Details

To reduce the number of content context menu items, we would like to remove "View Image Info". This is not used frequently and if necessary still accessible via page info (which remains accessible via the relevant shortcut and the Tools menubar item).

More context is in https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Ufd0A3HsziyXXAjXYNH84P2bu7RdTxARsA0xpKmwIWs/edit .

Oops, we got through this in bug 1690029 already.

You've removed the most important feature of Firefox, this was actually the main reason for using firefox and now you've removed that as well. Who told you that it was a bug?

As a web developer, I used this all the time to see the size and dimensions of the image.

In "View Page Info" it is difficult to find the image when there is more than one on a page.

Really frustrated this was removed.

Did someone actually check that this is not used frequently or was this like with compact mode where it is not tracked in telemetry?

Did someone actually check that this is not used frequently

Yes, actually - all of this was extensively discussed in bug 1700239, where you'll find relevant datapoints that motivated the removal and where there are also suggestions for workarounds. Even so, having heard all the advocacy around this, we are adding it back behind a preference in bug 1702013.

I used the "View Image Info" feature multiple times a day. It is the fastest way to get image dimensions and is why I prefer Firefox over other browsers when developing.

Also please don't require us to restore this important function by requiring us to edit the about:config file.

Thank you.

As was already mentioned, bug 1702013 tracked putting this item back. That bug was fixed and it is now visible by default in Firefox Developer Edition 89 (that's the current version), and in beta/release 89 you can / will be able to enable it using browser.menu.showViewImageInfo in about:config.
