<hyatt> although i view it as extremely minor and will probably put it off to
like 0.9

This isn't Phoenix-specific.

thanks for the note dean. I suspect that when hyatt gets around to this (unless
someone beats him to it) that he'll implement it in such a way that it could be
hooked up to seamonkey as well. Just in case that doesn't happen let's keep both
bugs.

OK, sure. Note that I did some investigation into the messages, etc., that
Windows uses over in the other bug.
I think turning off the access key visability hurts usability because it reduces
the ease of discovery of the access keys. I dont understand why you would want
to remove them, except maybe for aesthetic reasons and even then I think it is a
small sacrifice for usability.
Comments on bug 25894 mention the downsides, but no explaination of why it
should be done.
I would be very interested if you could explain.

This should be implemented on Windows 2000 (and presumably XP,) for consistency
with other Win2k applications, which use the system-wide preference to show the
access keys or not.

Taking QA Contact as designated owner of Firebird-Menus. Sorry for bugspam.

In line with Comment 7, I think the summary for this bug should be changed to
'respect Windows Access Keys display pref', as this can be changed in Control
Panel. The default preference in 2000 and XP is for them not to be shown until
Alt is pressed.
More info about the correct behaviour and how to read the Windows pref is
avaliable at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnacc/html/ATG_KeyboardShortcuts.asp
go to the Underlining Access Keys heading.

Good suggestion. I'm changing the summary to reflect the more accurate description.

This is just a dupe, we're not going to do anything except what core XUL does.
