Many users complain that the Proton Normal mode feels like a "Touch" design, and is too bulky.
Depending on the solution chosen in Bug 1703029, it seems feasible to shave another 5 px from the chrome height (tab bar + address bar + bookmarks toolbar) in Normal Mode.
See my proposal (not an UX expert here!) in attachment.
I hope this can be reviewed by the Proton UX team. Thanks!

Thank you for your recommendation and we appreciate your input here. We looked at your design and don't think there will be sufficient room for non-Latin languages in the tab title as well as room for the notification dot. Therefore, I'm going to close this bug as "wontfix", but I want to say thank you for working out another design that we could use to reduce space.
