Hang attempting to save changes after edit saved search folder properties

Steps to reproduce:
macOS 88.0b3 (64-bit)
- Right click existing Search Folder -> Properties
- Click Choose... and change choices in "Select the folders to search"
- Click Update
Actual results:
Modal moves behind Thunderbird and greys out (see screenshot).
Can't quit Thunderbird and changes not save.
Expected results:
Modal fully dismiss and changes saved.

Something very wrong here - TB hangs. I can reproduce with beta 3 on Mac. Step 3 is more simply just dismissing the save prompt - "Update" or "Cancel"
Can someone find the regression range, or has an idea of what has gone wrong?

Actually, not quite totally hung - menu bar still responds, windows other than 3-pane can be accessed with the "Window" menu, can save drafts and it's getting new mail.
But 3-pane is otherwise totally useless, and I can't get the "edit saved search properties" to the foreground.
(perhaps a different bug, after killing thunderbird and starting I got all my tabs back, but account central is shown, and clicking anywhere on 3-pane is unresponsive. Started again and i"m OK)

Is this reproducible with every search folder?
What's the location of the search folder? Local folder or remote IMAP?
How many search terms were used when the issue appeared?
Does this happen also when creating a new Search folder or only when editing?

Very reproducible. fails both local and imap. Search terms appear to be not relevant. Originally I thought it was a folder issue too, but it's not.
- Right click existing Search Folder -> Properties
- Click Choose...
As soon as you click Choose to open the folders list you can see that the edit properties dialog has gone behind the 3pane window - you can't do anything to get it back. the entire 3pane is useless except the menu bar. Nothing in error console. Exiting Choose with cancel IMO and still having the problem is IMO significant.
If you don't do step 2 "Choose" and instead exit the Properties at step 1, you have no trouble.

Doesn't happen on Windows for b2 or b3.
Only happens on Mac (as expected). ALso happens when creating a new search folder IF you pick Choose during the creation process.
And ... I forgot this was reported in bug 1699514.
