User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0

Steps to reproduce:

Accessed about:preferences#search and about:preferences#home,
Accessed https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-options-preferences-and-settings?as=u&utm_source=inproduct#w_home-panel and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-options-preferences-and-settings?as=u&utm_source=inproduct#w_home-panel

Actual results:

The information is misleading if not wrong.

Expected results:

The information should be up to date with the (latest) behaviour of Firefox. 89
A plenty of bug has been opened related to new tab, search and address bar behaviour in Firefox 89 and ended up as duplicate of 1707701 (Won't fix).
Irrespective of my preference, at this point I'm confident that the behaviour is fully as intended. However the behaviour does not match the the preferences text and the appropriate support web page.

In about:preferences#search There are the following radio buttons:
"Search
Search Bar
() Use the address bar for search and navigation
() Add search bar in toolbar"

Being a radio button choice, it create the expectation that the search functionality is a choice of either address bar or a separate search bar
Further confusion is caused by the fact is named "addess bar" but more that than that.

In order to create the right expectation Firefox may want to drop the concept of "address bar" from menus and documentation but use always "search and address bar" (or "Input bar" or something similar).

In order to create the right expectation the preferences should not have a radio button choice but a a statement that the search is always possible "search and address box" and checkbox to add a search only input box aside of search and address.

In the about:preferences#home there is the following check box
"Firefox Home Content
Choose what content you want on your Firefox Home screen.
[ ] Web Search"

Issue 3.
I honestly don't know what "Web search" text have to be replaced be replaced with.
Based on what is does it might be something like add "Add an input box to guide the user toward search_and_address_bar on toolbar"? Anyway, this item have to be explained in more detail but "Web search" is plainly wrong.

Hi Tudor,
Thanks for report this issue. This could be an enhancement, hopefully it will be taken into consideration in the future.

I'll mark this Enhancement as New for visibility.

Hi Jerónimo,
For me this is more like a bug than an enhancement.
The change in the way the search is performed and in the way New Tab behave has been already completed as the functionality in Firefox 89. That means at this moment there is a gap between what's "on the tin" and what's "inside" the Firefox 89.
