use google's site search instead of htdig to do
http://www.mozilla.org/search.html
htdig isn't cutting the mustard for me, so I've been using google site search.

ok, I've changed the search page should show up soon.
I'm only doing mozilla.org site searches, not mozillazine, xulplanet, mozdev, etc.
myk, once it is live, can you check it out, and turn of the htdig indexing, if
you like it?

Please don't turn off htdig.
The current search page just doesn't cut it. We need to provide
more information on how to find documentation. For example, not
everyone knows to search LXR for documentation in the source tree,
or Google groups for Usenet postings.
Also, some pages are just not linked from anywhere, for example:
http://www.mozilla.org/docs/end-user/dark-mozilla-faq.html
http://www.mozilla.org/catalog/development/tools/cvs-intro.html
The first link shows up in google search. That's because it's an
old page and Google probably picked it up sometime ago, but the
2nd page won't show up (bug 203186). For this reason, we need to
keep the old search engine, at least for documentation QA.
I think the page should also link to mozillaZine, mozdev,
unstable.elemental.com, and XULPlanet so that developers could
find the information they need. We probably shouldn't link to
Mozilla user sites because they tend to change/move.
I'll see if I can come up w/ a search tutorial patch today
Summary: use google's site search instead of htdig to do http://www.mozilla.org/search.html → use google's site search instead of htdig

The solution to documentation not in Google is to link to it from somewhere,
f.e. http://www.mozilla.org/catalog/. Including LXR is a great idea. Including
other Mozilla-related sites is also a great idea, but we should provide a search
form for searching them instead of merely linking to them, since users clearly
want to search when they go to the search page, and merely linking to the sites
unnecessarily forces users to find each site's search form themselves.

Intead of putting links to other sites w/ the Google search form,
I put them in a separate search-tips.html. I also fix the Google
custom search options on search.html
On search-tips.html page I removed the htdig search form per
comment in bug 160778. I will keep the links because except for
mozdev.org all site linked has a search form in the front page,
and I think putting many forms in one page is aethestically
unpleasing and bad usability practice.
The two pages should be ready for check-in. Myk, can you review
the changes and check the files in (no gila account here yet)
