User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:93.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/93.0

Steps to reproduce:

Create fresh nightly profile with 'gfx.webrender.compositor.force-enabled' set to true
Open https://www.brutto-netto-rechner.info/
Rapidly and repeatedly click the various dropdowns on the page

Actual results:

After a few seconds Gnome Shell crashes with SEGV:

gnome-shell: (EE) failed to read Wayland events: Broken pipe
firefox-nightly: Gdk-Message: 11:14:49.300: Error reading events from display: Broken pipe
systemd: org.gnome.Shell@wayland.service: Main process exited, code=dumped, status=11/SEGV

Expected results:

Gnome Shell should not crash

Note: This might be a Gnome issue, but Firefox is the only application triggering it so far

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Graphics: WebRender' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Graphics: WebRender
Product: Firefox → Core

I can no longer reproduce this with the current nightly and Gnome-Shell/Mutter 40.4

Great! Please re-open this bug if the problem happens again.
