Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Firefox and add the Search bar to the toolbar.
  2. Resize the browser horizontally to make it smaller.
  3. Type something inside the Search bar.

Expected result

  • Search bar is resized.

Actual result

  • Search bar is not resized.

I suspect this is intentional - there's a limit as to how small we can go. Daisuke or Harry should be able to tell for certain.

Yes, it's intentional. We want the search box itself to be able to get very small to take up minimal toolbar space. However, the dropdown would not be useful at that narrow width. We make the trade-off of the dropdown sometimes being bigger than the search box.
