Steps to reproduce:

If you set popS (SSL/Port995) as protocol and you click on "Confirm security exception" key the new version (91.x both 32 and 64bit) of thunderbird do not download anymore the emails.

The certificated on the mail server popS protocol is a self-signed certificate, encrypted with RSA 2048 bit and not expired.

This was working perfectly on versions 68.x an 71.x

Actual results:

Activating popS protocol emails do not download anymore

Expected results:

Like in previous versions of thunderbird after adding the security exception the mail should works correctly and download from the server.

The bug is allways here, "adding security exception" don't let emails to download with popS

Maybe bug 1764770 is related.

Hi all,

i updated thunderbird from 91.x to latest 102.x
the issue is still here unfortunately

i removed SSL from the pop accounts
i removed all the saved certificates

i restart thunderbird tried to download with POP and it works
so i put again SSL on the pop protocol

i restarted thunderbird and it don't ask neither to accept the certificate
the problem got worse

the accounts were i activated again popS are not working anymore, the don't donwload any email, they don't ask for certificates to accept

i add
i had found a work-around with 91.x
now even the work-around do not work anymore :-(

Do you click the Get Messages button? That should pop up the override cert dialog.

Oh, I forgot, bug 1778464 is not yet fixed on for 102. But will be soon.

thunderbird even with on of the latest version 102.x still have this issue
even with the security exception saved before
it stop downloading emails on protocol popS with self signed certificates
it even don't print any error, it just don't download any email
