RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1731183

People

(Reporter: felix.schroeter, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:94.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/94.0

Steps to reproduce:

In the TB 78 I was able to print only excerpts of a mail by marking the text I want to print and click on print preview.

Actual results:

In TB 91 there is no print preview. So if I click "Print" it opens the whole mail in the print dialog.

Expected results:

It should open the a print dialog with only the text i marked.

Hallo Felix, you are right, this functionality got lost when we ported the Firefox print dialog. It's not about the preview, even in TB 78 you could select text and just print without preview, then pretend that you print the entire document, but as the selection was the document sent to the print dialog, it would then just print that.
Can you describe here why this use case is important for you? How often are you using this feature?
I think we need to investigate how to restore it, which imo is technically possible, but not yet fully understood. For the meantime, this is a duplicate of bug 1731183.

Hi Thomas, thank you for your reply. In our company, some employees use it daily to filter important information from emails and to print them out in order to then give the printout to our production. Especially when the original email spans several pages, it also saves paper and is much easier to use than copying the selected text into a separate document and then printing it out.
