This is interesting, i was unable to replicate this on my windows 11 machine.

I go to search
Then type "color settings", and click on that
That opens the (windows settings) personalization> Colors screen
in there i have:
Choose your mode: DARK
+
show accent color on title bars and windows borders : ON

but when i launch firefox latest nightly version 96.0a1 the title bar in firefox is dark.

can you share some screenshots of what settings do you have under "personalization> Colors screen" on your windows 11 machine?

Huh, that's pretty weird.

It does not repro in a new profile.
This profile was only created a month ago.
It does reproduce if I start in "safe mode".

I've attached the Personalization > Colors page.

I believed that it could have been caused by me using the unsupported Compact theme, but switching to Compact in a new profile does not cause this issue.

I do not have any user styles applied to the browser chrome, and am just using the "Dark" or "Match System" themes.

If I switch the browser theme to Light and then Dark again, the title bar becomes dark.

bug 1742237 occured once after bug 1742111 merged (it could be fixed by switching to another theme and back) and once again after it was backed out.

Can you still reproduce this bug after restarting Nightly?

Yes, this persists on every launch. I have switched themes to/from Light and Dark in an attempt to fix this issue, and it still persists.

i am still unable to replicate this, tried on firefox release 94.0.2 on windows11 with the same settings and all is dark.

Alright, I switched to Alpenglow and then back to dark, and it works fine. You can safely close this issue if it's transient, or if I got my theme data in a bad state.

However, for posterity: I've included addonStartup.json before and after the switch (Dark -> Alpenglow -> Dark again), as well as the diff between the two. It's interesting in that some keys have changed.
