[Affected versions]:

  • Firefox Nightly 101.0a1 (2022-04-23) (64-bit)
  • Firefox Release 99.0.1 (64-bit)

[Affected Platforms]:

  • Windows 10 x64

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Launch Firefox, and access "about:addons".
  2. Click on the "Extensions" section.
  3. Instal one extension that has not been installed. At the same time, a window pops up in the upper right corner of the page to ask whether to "Allow this extension to run in Private Windows".
  4. Click the installed extension, and see the "Details" of the extension.
  5. Check the box in the upper right corner to "Allow this extension to run in Private Windows".
  6. Observe the "Run in Private Windows" radio box and the right of the extension name.

[Expected result]:

  • The "Run in Private Windows" radio box is changed to "Allow" from "Don’t Allow" and a purple glasses icon appears to the right of the extension name (indicating that the extension is allowed in private windows).

[Actual result]:

  • The "Run in Private Windows" radio box is still "Don’t Allow", and a purple glasses icon appears to the right of the extension name (indicating that the extension is allowed in private windows).

I can reproduce this issue, but please note that the "Run in Private Windows" radio box is changed to "Allow" after a refresh of "about:addons" which is possible to be the expected result.

Also , if the box in the upper right corner is checked to "Allow this extension to run in Private Windows" and the detail page of installed addon is opened in about:addons after this action, then the "Run in Private Windows" is set to "Allow", which is correct behavior.

Please let us know if this expected and if not, I will change the UNCONFIRMED status

This looks a legit bug.
Marked as P5/S4 because it is not actually breaking anything and the radio button is correctly set if the about:addons tab is reloaded.

This may be reasonable as a mentored for contributors, and so I added myself as a mentor.
