I wanted to sync only a portion of my favorites.

Actual results:

Because operating systems (Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.) usually add their own set of default favorites, and they keep "polluting" the menus and bars of all synced devices with those items.

Expected results:

I believe this can be avoided by allowing a fine-grained control of which directories get synced.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Sync' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we aren't going to build the UI and support for only syncing a portion of the bookmark tree. However, we do have bug 1177516 which is roughly what you are asking for, and in particular, that if you delete or move one of these default bookmarks then it will not come back when you reinstall - so I'm going to close this as a dupe of that.
