This intermittent also happens on linux debug, I have triggered a request on pernosco, let's see if it can reproduce the intermittent timeout.

Interestingly currently only failures on Linux.

Couldn't reproduce the failure locally with --run-until-failure with Ubuntu 20.04.

Roughly 50 failures now, all of them on Linux. Will disable it only there until I have a fix. The feature itself is disabled by default and full test coverage on macOS is still available, so this is tolerable.

Tried to reproduce on taskcluster connected to Pernosco with 25 runs, no failure. A request with 100 runs and chaos-mode is still in progress.

No new failures on other operation systems, hence closing this. There's bug 1774787 to re-enable the test which is currently disabled for Linux.

For the record: one failure on Windows was associated with this bug, but that was incorrect. So all failures indeed only occurred on Linux.
