This is about the .mhtml extension, not .html, right? Providing a way to open these files with Firefox would fix this, presumably.

I tried to fix the loop problem in bug 1750253 for the "we are the OS default handler app" case, but it looks like for some reason that is not working in this situation. It's not clear to me why not, off-hand. This would probably need some more investigation.

In the meantime the workaround is "don't do that". :-)

I was able to reproduce this issue as well in all versions of Firefox.

I made more fixes to this logic in bug 1807260, does this still reproduce? I suspect it's a duplicate.

Hi @Gijs, We can no longer reproduce this issue, the Save or Open prompt is displayed each time. It will no longer open multiple tabs without seeing that prompt.
