User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826 I entered my name, which contains an accent (Johan Guihรฉneuf; Johan Guih&eaccute;neuf), in the edit field in the account page on Buzilla. When I look at one of the bugs I reported, my name is displayed incorrectly: the "e with an accute accent" is replaced by a "? in a square". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In an edit field on a web site ( for exemple, the account page on Bugzilla ), enter a string with a character with an accent. To do that, use a french keyboard or a program able to insert non-english latin characters. 2. In case of bugzilla, validate the changes in the account 3. display a bug page where the value entered in the edit field is displayed. Actual Results: The "e with an accute accent" was replaced by a "? in a square" Expected Results: Mozilla should display correctly those characters, or transform the value in the edit field in an normalised HTML string ( replace the "e with an accute accent" by \&eaccute; before sending it to the web site.

Mozilla should use the encoding the site tells it to use. Then it's the site's job to deal with the chars correctly. This is a bug in bugzilla.
