Details
the mail/news client doesn't play the custom sound when you receive mail.
instead, it plays the system "BEEP" (whatever your default system sound is set
to -- usually the "ding" sound in Windows or MacOS).
steps to reproduce:
- open your "Mail & Newsgroup" settings in the main preferences on mozilla
- go to the "Notifications" part
- check "Play a Sound", and pick "Custom wav file"
- select a valid .wav file
- click "Preview" or wait for new mail to arrive after applying these settings
expected result:
- mozilla mail plays the custom wav file
actual results:
- mozilla plays the system "beep"
reproductible:
- always
