User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:105.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/105.0
Build ID: 20220915150737
Mesa (Nouveau): 20.0.8
Steps to reproduce
- Start Firefox with a new profile.
- Open this page.
- Open a new tab with
Ctrl+T
. - Close the tab with
Ctrl+W
so that steps 3 and 4 take 1 second. - Move the mouse horizontally over the gray area at the top of the page (from step 2) for 2 seconds. I used the empty part of the area and didn't cross the text and images. It seems that distance and speed of movement do not matter.
- Wait 2 seconds.
- Repeat steps 3-6. Keep them in a 5 second cycle. If you did something faster or slower, adjust step 6 so that step 3 starts every 5th second.
It usually takes 2-3 minutes to reproduce the bug. If it takes more than 5-6 minutes, you can try restarting Firefox. Also, you can try in Private browsing.
Actual results
The application window stops refreshing, except for the title bar. If you switch to another application, the Firefox window will be refreshed. If you switch back, the Firefox window will be refreshed again, but it still won't refresh automatically without switching to another applications.
Expected results
The application window should not stop refreshing.
Also, I can occasionally reproduce the bug on the latest Nightly (Build ID 20221112215806) in a new profile.
Probable regression window. "Probable" because I don't know a reliable way to reproduce the bug.

Your link to "this page" and the regression window are the same, is that intentional?

Thanks, Jeff, bug 1781167 is exactly the same issue. I can't reproduce the bug on the latest Nightly (Build ID 20221123213526), which has a fix for 1781167, so I think we can mark 1800452 as a duplicate of 1781167.
Too bad I couldn't find 1781167, although I searched for the keyword "freeze".
