User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:106.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/106.0

Steps to reproduce:

Begin typing a long sentence or paragraph. After a dozen characters, the input will pause for sometimes a long as a count of 20 before the last 5 characters will display. Moving the cursor back to the end of the input is slow, requiring multiple clicks to get it to move to the correct place.
I checked all of the keyboard settings, and they are all correct.
This does not happen in Chrome.

Actual results:

After typing about a dozen characters, the input will pause for sometimes a long as a count of 20 before the last 5 characters will display. Moving the cursor back to the end of the input is slow, requiring multiple clicks to get it to move to the correct position.

Expected results:

I should be able to type without delay.

Hi Karen. Would you mind providing the following information?

  1. Go to about:support using the address bar and provide the information from there.
  2. What is your computer manufacturer and model?
  3. Do you have any accessibility tools, enterprise SSO tools or security software installed? If so, what?
  4. Are you able to provide a performance profile during the freeze? See this page for instructions.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

There's a lot of information on the about:support screen. Several pages. I'm not sure what you need.

I have a 17-inch HP Envy Laptop, System Model HP ENVY Laptop 17-ch0xxx, running Windows 11 Pro, latest update.

I use no accessibility tools.

The only security software I run is the Windows Defender Firewall.

I'm not sure how running a performance profiler would help, but I'll try.

I'm not sure what happened, but things seem to be better this afternoon. Perhaps there was an update or something, but I'm not getting the same issue any longer.

Thank you. I'll take a look.

If you start recording a profile before the freeze and stop it just after the freeze, the profiler should show us where in the code the freeze is occurring. That might lead me closer to a diagnosis and perhaps a solution.

If the freezes occurred after copying to the clipboard, I would have said that was bug 1774285, which was caused by Windows 11 Suggested Actions but for which we devised a workaround. However, you noted that the freezes occur when typing, which would suggest it was caused by something else.

You appear to have RoboForm running on your system and it is this that is using the accessibility engine in Firefox (and presumably using it poorly enough to cause a freeze). If the problem persists, please try disabling RoboForm and let us know if the problem persists or goes away. Thanks.

Thank you. Yes, I am running RoboForm and I see that it does use the accessibility engine. I'll keep testing, but at the moment I'm not seeing any issues at all with any delay in typing. I'm guessing there may have been some kind of update that might have resolved the problem, but I'm not quite sure yet. I'll be back with an update at the end of the day or if I see this problem cropping back up during the day.

Hi Karen. Have there been any further developments here? Is everything still working as expected for you? If so, I will close this bug. Thanks.

Thank you for asking. Yes, everything is working properly now. I still don't know what happened, but either a Mozilla update or perhaps a Windows update seems to have resolve the problem.

Okay. I'm going to close this, but please feel free to reopen it if the problem reappears. Thanks for your help.
