Details
User-Agent: Privacy
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021116
I'm using the latest CVS Mozilla from 11/16/2002 with the JRE plugin from
Netscape with kernel 2.4.19 on x86. The java plugin fails to load, printing the
following error message:
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/usr/local/lib/mozilla-1.2b/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so
[/usr/local/lib/mozilla-1.2b/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so:
undefined symbol: __vt_17nsGetServiceByCID]
about:plugins does not mention the java plugin and going to a site that uses
java does nothing (no popup to download plugin and no error printed).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Mozilla Build ID 2002111605 for linux and jre131_02.xpi
2.Run Mozilla at the console
3.Visit http://java.sun.com
Actual Results:
At the console, it prints out:
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/usr/local/lib/mozilla-1.2b/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so
[/usr/local/lib/mozilla-1.2b/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so:
undefined symbol: __vt_17nsGetServiceByCID]
Expected Results:
The java plugin should initialize and java applets should run. No error should
be printed out.

Um... That's about two jre versions behind and I'm not sure there's even a way
that it can work with current mozilla builds. Please see
http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.html#Java for getting a current jre. (And
yes, the release notes still link to 1.3; I'll comment in the release notes bug
on that....)
