RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 752844

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/109.0

Steps to reproduce:

Search for "wedding" or "monning".

Actual results:

Results returned for matches on Wednesday or Monday.

Expected results:

Only results for wedding should show. Using quotation marks around search terms does not help.

Has been an issue for years.

I currently get ~1000 results for "wedding", while it has only been used single-digit times. Most results look like:

On Wed, Feb 8, 2023 at 10:49 PM

Cannot find "wedding" in all those results, need to find another search term.

It appears that searching / indexing is using a regex to remove some word endings, "ing", "s", etc., then de-duplicating double letters.

A good idea, however in this case it's not working well.

If quoted terms bypassed regex, should solve this one.

Thank you Thunderbird devs!
