We are currently promoting Library entry point to import, but need to promote a new primary entry point into import from about:preferences.
-
The list of supported data types has changed and needs to be updated. New wizard will support the following data types:
- browsing history,
- bookmarks,
- saved logins and passwords,
- form autofill data - from 115 and forward
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-data-another-browser
- We need to promote about:preferences entry point.
- UI screenshots need to change to reflect the new wizard design.
- Import bookmarks from the HTML section will need an update in 115 once we ship import from HTML inside the import wizard.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-internet-explorer-or-microsoft-edge
- The article needs a full update that describes the new flow and promotes the primary entry point in about:preferences.
New new functionality in the import
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-html-file
- Import bookmarks from file is now available directly from the import wizard - please see the new flow here.
- We should promote about:preferences entry point.
- Payment methods import from Chromium browsers.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-ie-favorites-other-computer
- Importing bookmarks into Firefox section needs to be updated according to the new bookmarks HTML file import.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/importing-safari-data-firefox
- We no longer need full access to import data from Safari (although users can still do it if they are willing to go this path).
I think it would be more valuable to describe the new Safari import flow instead. Especially, since it now prompts users to bring bookmarks AND passwords from Safari.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-data-another-browser
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-data-another-browser#w_import-extensions-from-chrome
- We are going to support extensions import from Chrome in 116, and it would be helpful to add a section on how we do extensions import that we can link to from the import wizard screens.

FX115 updated articles:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-google-chrome
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-data-another-browser
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-and-other-data-microsoft-edge
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-html-file
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-ie-favorites-other-computer
Thank you, Lucas, this is tremendous work on updating all of these!
A couple of small nitpicks/questions:
Should we consider changing:
"This article explains how to import an HTML bookmarks file formatted in the Netscape Bookmarks format."
to
"This article explains how to import an HTML bookmarks file exported from your previous browser." ?
I feel like mentioning Netscape Bookmarks format won't help users much (as it's unlikely they are putting the file together themselves), and it feels a bit intimidating.
I wonder if we should just compress the article, as the steps to import are identical from multiple entry points, whether it's Library or Settings?
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-google-chrome
3. There's a small typo in the "Import from Library" section (see attached screenshot).

Ania, I also contributed to the article updates. I already have a revision pending review to change that sentence to ''This article explains how to add bookmarks to Firefox from a file saved in HTML format.'' See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-html-file/history

Import from Firefox Settings only applies to Firefox 113 and above. We need the Library instructions for older versions we still support, including 102esr. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/knowledge-base-articles/711388#post-67193 on what versions we support (we should probably document this somewhere, maybe in the Article review and approval guidelines article).

The typo was in the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-data-another-browser article. I have a pending revision to fix it. See

I submitted a new revision to keep two sections to start the Import process (Library for all versions and Settings for fx113+) but combined steps to chose data and complete the import process. See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-google-chrome/history
Lucas, can you review my revision and make any changes that may be needed?
