Steps to reproduce:
-
Have an ALSA-Only system
-

-
Check for input with Jitsi or another chat platform.
-
Use pipewire-alsa standalone without pipewire-pulse
Actual results:
There is no 'default' interface (or any interface), and my microphone does not work.
Expected results:
There is a 'default' ALSA interface, and my microphone does work.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

have you installed pulseaudio, if not then perhaps try that i.e. apt-get install libpulse0 pulseaudio

My goal is to be on an ALSA only system, not using pulseaudio. Microphone works fine under ffmpeg, arecord, and various applications.
Aditionally, i get errors like these when something tries to access the devices:

Telling me this is a duplicate doesn't help, the issue is from 6 years ago and somehow every other application still works with ALSA. What is this excuse?
