User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021126 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021126 Some sites use plugins superfluously on each and every page, which (particularly with several pages from the site open at once in tabs) consumes excessive resources and is NP-annoying. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to site that does this (e.g. the one in the URL field) 2. Middle-click (or whatever you do to open in a new tab) a dozen links or so, to open up description pages for various items. Actual Results: In my case, I'd neglected to symlink Java and rm libnullplugin.so beforehand (since I had just installed 1.2), so I kept getting the useless "install the plugin" dialog. But even if I'd had Java installed (which I usually do), I'm sure I wouldn't have wanted _that_ many instances of the plugin going. I'd have wanted to block plugins from that site after about the fifth page. I still want other, more sane sites (e.g., nist.time.gov) to be able to use the plugin in question. Expected Results: Either under Tools->Plugin Manager or else via context click (on the plugin? or do plugins get to interpret that on their own?) it would be nice if there were an easy way to block plugins just for certain sites. This isn't urgent or anything, just something to consider for the future. I'm amazed I didn't find a dupe; maybe I just didn't search for the right things, but "block plugins site" in the summary turned up nothing.
See also bug 94035, a more general bug that would include this (among other things). If that is fixed, this becomes moot or at the very least becomes just a UI issue.
this is part of the plug-in manager work *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 19118 ***
