This appears to be a duplicate of bug 151097.

I observed the same problem. The total message size is 925KB, and there are 4 attachments, each a .txt file. When I hit "REPLY", a new compose window popped up, the CPU was pegged, and Mozilla became unresponsive. I could only use task manager to kill it. Just tested this with a 1.4mb text file. I was able to view and forward this message without any hang. However, I did notice that due to the file size and it being located remotely that there was a very long lag while the file loaded - which with a slower connection may have appeared to be a hang. For reference my system is: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040114
