Your bug has been 'duped' because there is no newsgrooup message filter functionality yet, therefore nothing happens when you click on new. So your bug is in reality the wish for implementing newsgroup filter.

Newsgroup filters in trunk, later version 1.3a

Just downloaded 1.3 beta, the dialog box seems to work but I haven't yet tested the filter itself. Guess it's time to be getting the filters working better, e.g. bug 19403.... But what I have reported is really an instance of a more general kind of bug. If a feature isn't implemented or available, the button should be greyed out. It should be enabled but just doing nothing when pressed. The underlying cause of this instance is fixed now, but for the future it's worth noting in general that, if a reported bug is that a button or menu command just does nothing instead of being greyed out, then this is the bug.
