Steps to reproduce:
In the BETA - I dragged a message from my inbox to a local folder
Actual results:
the message list displayed for the inbox scrolled to a different point
(this happens almost every time - sometimes no scrolling occurs)
Expected results:
the message list should not scroll

I am not able to reproduce this with 116.0b5 on Mac, with the dragged messages positioned in various areas of the message list.
Which view > layout are you using?
And are you using the classic column list, or the card message list?

The two screenshots show Thunderbird before and after the drag - the highlighted file in the "before" picture I dragged to a local folder resulting in the message list as it is shown in the "after" - as you can see the newly highlighted message (i.e. the next one in the list) is now near the top of the pane. The scrolling can sometimes move the newly highlighted one completely out of sight. I think it always scrolls to further down the list.
I had noticed in previous builds that sometimes when I dragged the message that was second to top in the list after the drag the top message had been moved 'up' but it didn't seem to be predictable. Now it seems that every drag results in a scroll occurring.
Hope that helps

I am now on 118.0b1 - seems to be OK when dragging a message from the middle of the list. I still have the effect though when I drag the second from top message to a local folder, the top message scrolls up and the top visible one is the 'new' second from top.
Not sure if I made this clear earlier, but I work with an "all inbox" view that shows the messages in a number of accounts (you can see that in the screenshot, but I don't think I made it explicit) having just tried it from the inbox of a single account it seems to work OK there - at least I could not reproduce it (it doesn't happen every time anyway). Don't know if that is relevant.
"All Inbox" is a saved search folder which searches the inbox for each account - thus enabling me to see all messages in a single folder
