Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 I would like to search on the contents of the URL bar by just hitting Enter, not having to hit the down arrow first. If the concern is that any mistyped URL would send you to the search engine a la MSExplorer, then make it a configurable disabled-by-default option, and only search in the case of an illegal URL (right now it opens an alert window saying "the URL is illegal and cannot be opened", so it means I hit four keys to do a search: <enter> instintively, <enter> again to close the alert window, <down> to select "search google for" and <enter> again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Type "oral sex" in the URL bar 2.Hit <enter> Actual Results: It opened an alert window Expected Results: Give me oral sex. I mean, a search. No additional information.
This should work already. You need to enable internet keywords and set the pref: user_pref("keyword.URL", "http://www.google.com/search?q="); - see http://www.mozilla.org/docs/end-user/internet-keywords.html related bug 53171 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 123968 ***
