User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 This is a little unreliable to reproduce, but I just got it and took a screen shot, so here we go: I clicked on the "home" button, and mozilla.org started loading. Halfway through the process (when the favicon had loaded already), I clicked my bookmark to www.sluggy.com. What I got was sluggy.com, but with Mozilla's favicon in the URL bar and tab. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click a bookmark, on a slow connection 2. Wait for favicon to load, but page still not fully loaded 3. Click a different bookmark Actual Results: Wrong favicon displays Expected Results: Should correctly re-load favicon
i've seen this one from time to time. i've ended up with my bookmarks toolbar displaying favicons for sites that don't have favicons.
Seems to WorkForMe in cursory testing using FizzillaMach/2003021903. Jesse, can you still reproduce this problem using a current nightly build?
Reporter: Can you reproduce this bug with a recent build of Mozilla (for example, 1.4rc3)? If so, then please comment again with details. If not, then please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks.
I'm seeing what appears to be the same bug, but triggered slightly differently. If I: 1. Open a Mozilla window with two tabs (so tab icons are visible). 2. Visit http://www.freshmeat.net/ 3. Wait for page to load. FreshMeat icon displays. 4. Click on http://www.perlmonks.org/ 5. IMMEDIATELY press stop the icon for the new site displays in the tab icon, rather than the icon for the site that's actually displayed in that window. I can reproduce this every time, with FireBird build 20030731.

I have seen the same problem as comment #5 by Scott Gifford. Image (note the favicon for Slashdot is wrong): http://www.annexia.org/tmp/moz-icon-bug.gif Steps to reproduce: (1) Go to an article on http://slashdot.org (2) Click a link to another site which has a favicon (in this case I followed a link to http://groklaw.net ) (3) Immediately press STOP Favicon is updated and not reset on STOP.

Additionally, my toolbar links display the wrong favicons. Somehow it gets sites mixed up and is displaying favicons for other sites I have been to.
Not sure if this is related, but I consistently get the favicon from google appearing by my toolbar link for http://ve3d.ign.com/?fromint=1
(In reply to comment #0) I can always reproduce the OP's bug with the following steps. I had this problem on 0.8 and it's still there on 1.0. Both on Windows 2000 and XP. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click a bookmark for a site which had a favicon (http://www.livejournal.com) on a slow connection or a slow computer 2. Wait for favicon to load, but page still not fully loaded 3. Click a different bookmark for a site without a favicon (http://news.bbc.co.uk) Note: You can still reproduce this on a fast computer, just click two appropriate bookmarks in quick succession Actual Results: Favicon for previous site displays on tab, bookmark toolbar and in bookmarks menu until favicon cache is cleared Expected Results: No favicon displayed

Livejournal favicon inherited by BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/), BOS (http://www.bankofscotlandhalifax.co.uk/online/) and ScreenSelect (https://www.screenselect.co.uk/visitor/login.html) but NOT by RT (http://www.radiotimes.beeb.com/) however many times I tried.

This is a duplicate of bug 271539 (or I guess the other way around) I proposed a patch there that seem to fix this problem for me.

this bug is still there in Mozilla 1.7.6 i have no clue how i can reproduce it, but the wrong favicons for sites that dont have a favicon still appear from time to time. clearing the cache resolves the wrong favicons (with loosing them all though)
Long time no see. Does anyone still see this with SeaMonkey 2.46? Personally I think the bug can be closed.
