Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130
On any site, whenever I use Find on this page or shortcut Ctrl-F, all Mozilla
windows that may be open at that time freeze (stop responding). This includes
all multiple browser windows, mail/news. I haven't tried with other compnents
open. Other Windows (Windows Explorer, etc) continue to work unaffected. I can
press the "X" button (close) in the top-right of the window, to get a message
from W2K stating the obvious - This program is not responding! Pressing the
"End now" button closes all instances of Mozilla. The same happens when I force
close Mozilla with Task Manager. Rebooting doesn't help.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to any site
2. Press Ctrl-F
Actual Results:
All of Mozilla freeze up. All Mozilla windows stop responding.
Expected Results:
Start find dialog window
I recently upgraded to Mozilla 1.2.1. I didn't see this behaviour (or lack
thereof) on the previous version (1.2a) I used.
I also see a similar freeze when I try to compose a message in Mail/News. This
logged as a separate bug.

As a rule of the thumb: Follow the Installation Notes, and only use compatible
themes.
If the creation of new windows cause freeze/hang, there's a chance your XUL.mfl
is corruped. Try quit mozilla (and quickstart if running) - delete XUL.mfl, then
restart. (XUL.mfl is a chrome cache and will be rebuilt on new startup if missing)
Thank you. I deleted the XUL.MFL file and the problem disappeared.
