Wow, I don't have a dual head machine to test this out on, but this sounds like an amazing bug to witness. (It sounds like a bug in X, fwiw. Maybe in the server-side Xrender code.)

This is a known bug in the Matrox render acceleration code. Mike Harris "fixes" this by turning off render acceleration, which is apparently easy enough to do. Egbert Eich has committed a patch to disable acceleration for XFree86 4.3 when in multihead mode.
