One little complaint i have about Phoenix.5 is that you can't sort the bookmarks
with folders first - like in an explorer window view. Would be nice if this
feature could be implemented :)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.sort bookmarks
2.
3.

Actual Results:  
folders are sorted alphabetically, mixed in with regular bookmark entries.

Expected Results:  
folders should be sorted first, alphabetically - then display bookmarks sorted
alphabetically.

I agree. Alphabetize the folders, except the toolbar folder, then alphabetize
the bookmark entries.

Yeah! that would really improve the usability of firebird.
(Bookmarks sort with folders first, then bookmarks)

It's been almost a year since the bug was registered and there's no progress to

100% ACK!

In the meantime, Torisugari's Sort Bookmarks 0.5.0.1 extension solves this
annonying problem:

Janis, your shouting doesn't add anything useful to this bug. If anything, you
will dissuade potential fixers by making the bug less easy to follow via
bugzilla email or reading through the comments. This is not an advocacy forum,
nor is it a place to complain about the pace of development. If you have
something of technical value to add to the bug, especially if it comes in the
form of a patch, then feel free to make some noise. If not, please go to the
forums at mozillazine.org and vent to your heart's content. Thanks.

minus for 1.0.  recommend folks use the extension until this can be integrated
in the next release.

The extension referred to by other commentators does not fix the sorting problem
in the side bar. Bookmarks are still sorted without folders first.  I find the
side bar to be more efficient for accessing book marks because sub folders can
be left open.  This is not the case if clicking on Bookmarks on the toolbar.

The existing extension also needs to be tweaked to allow it to work on versions
after 0.9.

I don't know about in FF1.0PR, but in FF0.9, the bookmark side bar sorts
bookmarks exactly as they are sorted in the bookmarks menu, so if you use the
extension to sort them with folders first, that should be reflected in the side
bar as well.

If you know anything about extensions you could probably just download it, open
it up, and raise the max version yourself. I would bet the extension as is does
not conflict with FF1.0PR and the author just hasn't bothered raising the max
version in the current extension, but I don't know that for sure.

This current bookmarks sort does sort folders first, so I'm guessing this should
be WORKSFORME.

sorry for bugspam, long-overdue mass reassign of ancient QA contact bugs, filter on "beltznerLovesGoats" to get rid of this mass change
