User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210

I have 2 email accounts. Account1 and Account2. Account1 is the default account.
And when I click on an email link in an email from Accoutn2, the default
identity is selected.

It woulbe be nice to MailNews detect that you clicked on a email link in
Account2 and select your identity of that account. Instead of the default idenity

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Read an email in a non-default account
2. click on an email link (not necesary a mailto: link)
3. the default identity is selected, not the current one

Expected Results:
MailNews should detect that you are in Account2 and not select the identity of
Account1

My 2 accounts are IMAP accounts.
When you click on "Compose" (new email), MailNews detect in which account you
were and then select the identity of that account.
The same should happend when you click on an email link.
What is you settings in
Mailnews\edit\Mailnews Account Settings\Account2\Advanced ?
"Always use default server" is selected in the dropdownlistbox.
I use the same SMTP server and IMAP server for both accounts.
Still happends: Mozilla 1.3 Final on WinXP SP1

It is not a dupe, it was discussed here:

We only need confirmation that is indeed working now

Reopening because resolution is incorrect.

Also, it is not clear to me that Oliver is correct in his estimation of whether
this bug is fixed. The symptom in Bug 204911 is still extant in current builds,
and I do not see the difference between this bug and that one.

isn't it getting even more critical with the new multiple identity feature ?
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/thunderbird/identities.html
This bug will *never* be "critical" because the workaround is simple: if the
compose window pops up with the wrong From:, you can change it using the
dropdown. Yes, it's a pain to have to do that; but note that nobody has
bothered to vote for this bug.

I do not know what change in behavior might be expected with regards to multiple
identities. The "smart identity" solution, as used for Reply (implemented for
bug 18906), might be a reasonable thing to do, but that should be a separate
bug.

This bug is actually a dupe of bug 64267, but I'll leave it up to Reporter to do
the right thing.
