User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030222
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030222
Sometimes using the mousewheel does not scroll the page, but... the contents of
the <marquee> tag!
Is this a bug or a feature? :)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to a website that uses vertical <marquee>, e.g. http://www.jabberpl.org/
2. Right-click on a link inside the <marquee> and afterwards close the pop-up menu.
3. Scroll your mouse wheel up and down
Actual Results:
Mozilla scrolls the marquee! (But it's fast enough, so the marquee "jumps").
Expected Results:
Do not touch the marquee and scroll the content of the page instead. :)
Tested on GNU/Linux. Haven't checked other platforms.

its because we use an iframe due to performance reasons :) I'd have to add
event handlers and preventDefault or something.

To comment #2:
JabberPL.org does exist. Sometimes it just has some problems with DNS, but it
should be always available at http://jabber.itn.pl/

Um . . . http://www.jabberpl.org/ doesn't have any <marquee> tags . . . .

Jeremy:
But it had one when this bug was being submitted. ;)

Yeah, but since it currently doesn't, I can't see what the bug is. Could
someone create a testcase?

Here comes the testcase.
BTW. I've just noticed that this bug does not appear in Mozilla for Windows,
but it does appear in Linux version.

IMO, this is feature, not a bug. In fact, I have at times felt the need to stop
a marquee to be able to scroll it or to do a selection. A "pause" item in the
context menu would be nice.

I can't scroll the marquee anymore with my mousewheel, using:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a5) Gecko/20041020
Firefox/0.9.1+
I believe this was fixed by the fix for bug 259615.
The marquee code uses a anonymous overflow:hidden div.

Strange, I tried the testcase again and I can still scroll it. Don't know why it
didn't scroll previously. :)

Marek, this is fixed in trunk builds (1.8a), not in branch builds (1.7).
You should try a nightly 1.8a build to see that this is fixed (if you then still
can see that you can scroll the marquee, then you can reopen the bug).

Now verified with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a5) Gecko/20041112.
I still wonder why it seemed fixed to me in Firefox. :)
