The new splash screen still has a few more bytes that can be squeezed out of it.
Also, if we reduce to 16 colors (with no discernable loss in quality) we can
get over 1k back. I'm going to post Windows and OS/2 bitmaps in 256 and 16 colors.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401
I have a question which is not exactly about this bug:
feel free to redirect me to a more appropriate place if you know one (I didn't
find a bug for it).
Since (I think) one of the v1.3a/b/f releases,
the previous splash screen with the colorful "dino" picture has been replaced by
the current black/orange text.
Do you know why ?
(I kind of liked the previous picture, and I am not too fund of the new text.)

Bug 194291.
Mainly copyright issues (and some thought the green ...animal looked too childish).
You can find a splash very similar to the old one in the collection at
http://www.lotekk.net/index.php?page=moz&sub=splash
There are also instructions how to change it.

Re comment 6:
Thanks:
I chose <http://www.lotekk.net/pages/moz/splash/screen/various_burn_ie.png> ;-)
And found "Formati 9"
(http://www.free-software-downloads.org/graphics-software/editors.htm) [v11
fails to run on my W95 :-<] as a free image format converter :-)

Gerv, can you check this in?

For a 1k saving, no, I can't. :-) To be honest, it really isn't worth my time
(or yours.)
