User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 When clicking on the "e-banking logon" button, it gives a warning that the site may not work correctly in the browser you are using, and gives you a link to "upgrade" to Internet Explorer. If you chose to continue however, the site appears to work fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Goto www.abbeynational.co.uk 2. Click on "e-banking logon" Actual Results: It gives an error that you are not using the best browser for the site, and you may encounter problems. I tried it and the site appeared to work fine. Expected Results: Just prompt for the card number/password/registration number, and not display the error.

The site has been given a bit of a facelift and the address is now abbey.co.uk (but the old address does redirect.) The message remains at the moment, but more revamping is promised.

I have had a look on this site today, and whilst the error message is still appearing, <http://www.abbey.com/ebanking_technical.htm> states that Netscape v6.2 and v7 are now supported under the Windows and Mac platforms. I have filled in their website feedback form, explaining that if they can support Netscape 7 then they ought to be able to support Mozilla.
I got the following reply: Hello Tom, Thanks for your e-mail. Your comments have been recorded and will be used in the ongoing development of the Abbey e-banking facility. Please be assured that we will take this feedback on board. May I take this opportunity to thank you for commenting on our e-banking service. Well, no problems with Firefox 2, but they reject Minefield and Camino trunk (with the "like Firefox" part removed from the UA). http://www.abbey.com/csgs/Satellite?c=GSInformacion&cid=1127562757065&pagename=Abbey/GSInformacion/GS_DetallePie actually doesn't specifically say Firefox is supported, but they're clearly sniffing for "Firefox" now. They should be sniffing for "Gecko" instead. (They also block Safari, so it's clear they need some further "encouragement" to realise there are other platforms besides Windows and IE out there.)

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20091127 Minefield/3.7a1pre It's seems to work now, using Minefield
I still get the "unsupported browser" message in Camino with the "like Firefox" portion of the UA removed, as well as Minefield on Mac Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20091122 Minefield/3.7a1pre The login page has moved to https://myonlineaccounts2.abbeynational.co.uk/CentralLogonWeb/Logon?action=prepare Make sure you're testing the right thing. (I find it doubtful they'd allow Minefield on Windows but not on the Mac.)
No, I can really see the login page. Or is the useragent-check only done after you log in ?
That's bizarre. If you spoof as Minefield on Mac, do you get the same results, or are you denied as I am?
Oh, it occurred to me that you might be referring to actually being able to click the "Go to log on" button. That works in Minefield, after first getting the "Unsupported Browser" page, but for some reason it fails in Camino. Subsequent visits in Minefield do not show the "Unsupported Browser" message once the "Go to log on" button is clicked, so my guess is they're setting a cookie somewhere that avoids it. The dumb sniffing is obviously still there, though -- they shouldn't be showing that page to anybody with a Gecko browser, and all Gecko browsers should be treated equally when it comes to clicking through that warning if they insist on keeping it.
