On Windows, the platform-consistent solution would be: +-------------------------------------------+ |[] Mozilla ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::| +-------------------------------------------+ | /r,\ Remember this password? | | \! / | | | | [*] Always ask to remember passwords | | | | (( Yes )) ( No ) | +-------------------------------------------+ On MacOS, it would be: +-------------------------------------------+ |[] Mozilla ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::| +-------------------------------------------+ | /r,\ Remember this password? | | \! / | | _ | | [*] Always ask to remember passwords | | | | ( Don't remember ) (( Remember )) | +-------------------------------------------+ Actually, now I come to think of it, there should only be one dialog, not two. +------------------------------------------------+ |[] Authentication required :::::::::::::::::::::| +------------------------------------------------+ | Enter user name and password for {blah} | | at {server-name}: | | __________________________________ | | User name [__________________________________] | | Password [__________________________________] | | _ | | [_] Remember username and password | | | | ( Cancel ) (( Ok )) | +------------------------------------------------+ Wouldn't that be so much simpler? Summary: Wallet dialogs use inappropriate button names → User-name/password and wallet dialogs should be merged
Since it was my message quoted here, I'm reopening this bug to request what I actually wanted (once I'd thought about it): the username/password and the remember/don't dialogs should be merged. The idea that two separate dialogs should be shown consecutively, in a situation where you can be almost certain that both will be shown, is bizarre from a usability point of view. Especially when the whole of the second dialog can be replaced by a single checkbox, as shown in my post. Note that if this was fixed, it would render bug 13032 irrelevant. (The combined dialog would still need to use OS-specific overlays for its buttons, of course.)

Well now you are changing the bug from yes/no dialogs to multiple dialogs. That really should have been opened as a separate bug report because otherwise it makes resolution of the bug difficult. The bug as originally reported is a dup of bug 13032 as already mentioned. The bug as ammended is a dup of bug 13228 (see also item 2 of bug 13022). Since a bug can only be assigned to be a dup of one other bug, I'm stymied as to what the correct resolution should be now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 13228 ***

I agree with morse. Marking it as a dup of 13228 sounds ok. Marking as VERIFIED.
