Seriously guys think about it, you know how many times I've been in some long
deep URL and I just want to get to the sites front page. It happens to me tons
of times after doing google searches for example. As it is now, I have to click
in the URL window, use the navigation keys to get the cursor to the point to
where I want to start my delete, then I have to press shift and END and DEL to
delete, then Enter to get to the main site. All I want to do is just press an
UP button like in konquerer. This is one of those features that you don't
realize how useful it is until you have it.

I tried early in Phoenix's history (~0.2 I would guess) to convince the devs to
implement this, along with clear location bar, to no avail. Your best bet is to
install the digger extension which adds this functionality to the Go button
through a right click context menu.
I suspect this will be WONTFIXed.

Mozilla Link Toolbar functionality in Firebird as an extension.
Confirming, expecting WONTFIX, but that's for hyatt to mark.

VERIFYING obvious WONTFIX bugs. Filter on firebirdWontFix to filter these bugs.
I skipped a few that I'm unsure about from their summary and will manually go
through them.

An Up button is most useful - I wish this issue would be reconsidered
and re-opened. The best extension I have seen for this is "Parent Folder"
but it has not been updated yet for the Firefox 3 Betas...
The Up Button does not have to appear on the toolbar
by default - users could add it by customizing.
Alternatively the functionality could be integrated into the new
combined Back/Forward widget in Firefox3.

This has been marked WONTFIX without any argument as to *why* it is such a stupid idea.
Can somebody who supports WONTFIXing this please explain themselves?
Reopening awaiting explanation from Mike Connor, Blake Ross or Brant Gurganus.
Or a fix. I think this would be a swell idea.

I cannot even imagine why mozilla / firefox developers are not interested in this feature. This has got to be one of the top ten most innovative features in a web browser and yet the developers here fail to see it. Either they are short-sighted, or are afraid of suffering from NIH syndrome.

Realistically I guess this is not going happen soon/ever - or that is my take.
There exist decent extensions which provide this functionality
so I gave up waiting for this long ago FWIW, and got a similar
response from chromium developers.

Uppity is a good workaround until this gets fixed:
