User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030313 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030313 I would like to see more options in the "Date Text Format" prefernce. Specifically an option that is MM/DD/YY. I understand that this may be sacrilege, but I would like to not have the leading "20" on my dates. Of course they will always be full dates in data files, but on the screen I just want to see the 2 digit year. I would also like to see the option MM/DD, with no year, I don't see myself, or the people whose calendars to which I subscribe, ever planning so far in the future that the year is in question. And if it is I can always edit the task/event. thanks mac Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to the calendar section of the prefernces 2.Look at the list of available date formats 3. Actual Results: I only have two ("Long: MMM DD, YYYY" and "Short: MM/DD/YYYY"). Expected Results: I would like to have a plethora of options.
I think this will be done when we get the new date / time picker working.

how does that look now? I'd like to have customisable fields order, long/short year, month as number/name, and delimiter (. vs / etc). many systems support such customizations...
Note that the formats follow your preferences set in the operating system. On w2k, this is set in Start | Settings | Control Panel | Regional Options | Date which sets both the short date and the long date format.

Is it possible to get a second date format section dedicated to day and week view. It could solve the following problem : In France the usual date format is ddd dd mmm yyyy (dd/mm/yyyy). So in the header of the day table, instead of "2/17 Sam" a french guy would at least expect "17/2 Sam" (and better "Sam 17/2")
Component: Sunbird Only → Preferences

In many (most?) countries the dd/mm/yyyy format is common, please add it as option. Additionally, a 24h time format would be pretty useful as it is easier read than the am./pm. format.

(In reply to comment #7) Markus, the date and time format is taken from your OS settings. If you change your OS to show 24h format Sunbird/Lightning will show it too. (But ensure that you change your OS format and not only e.g. KDE format)
Stefan, cool, you are right (verified on DE locale Mandriva). Question is where to change it in an US locale. Easier would be of course to be able to enforce format in Sunbird/Lightning...
I do not succeed to set to 24h format in Lightning. In the terminal, I have: ls -lat /tmp/ -rw------- 1 root root 31 Nov 14 19:37 init.vz1Kjt drwxr-xr-x 2 neteler neteler 1024 Nov 13 16:04 confronto_gis_files/ -rw-rw-r-- 1 neteler neteler 80901 Nov 13 16:04 confronto_gis.html ... the KDE is set to 24h but Lightning ignores it and shows AM/PM. Using Mandriva 2007.1.
Markus, I absolutly don't understand what you are telling us in comment #10... is it sort of lost private message ? I do use mandriva spring 2007.1 as french, and I've got the 24h format. Maybe the problem is comming from GNOME settings as Mozilla products come with GTK style. Maybe should you describe your problem on a mandriva forum to know where looking for ? My experience is good with 0.7 version of lightning and sunbird. Ok only two choice in format date (but that's enough to me) And week date format is good for my french mind.
I'd like to see an intermediate format. Day of Week present, but abbreviated (i.e. Sun, Mon, etc).

I think this is actually possible now. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1426907#c196 for how. Time to close?
