User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030526 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030526 If I edit (add/remove) bookmarks on the personal toolbar then bookmarks.html will be deleted when I quit Mozilla. This does not happen when I edit bookmarks not on the personal toolbar. This bug is also present in Mozilla Firebird. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add a site to the personal toolbar. 2. Quit Mozilla Actual Results: Bookmarks.html gone. It is also imposible to create a new personal toolbarfolder. Expected Results: Updated my bookmarks. This my be caused by my user folder being on another partition than the system, maybe related to bug 198138 and Camino bug 202062.
Adding keywords and requesting blocking of 1.4. Will try to track down when this regressed. pch, do you want a separate bug for Firebird?

ftp.mozilla.org does not store enough builds :-( 1.4a (2003040103) works fine, 1.4b (2003050714) until 2003052208 deletes bookmarks.html after second launch regardless if it is edited or not, 2003052307 shows this bug, e.g. deletes only if the personal toolbar is edited. My guess is that this was introduced with the fix for bug 192014 and bug partially fixed by bug 205378.
How come that fix for bug 205378 introduced this problem ? The fix was checked in on 2003-05-23 and you mentioned that build 2003050714 already had this problem. I'm not able to reproduce it btw, but I'll try again with latest trunk and 1.4 builds.

No, build 2003050714 (and 2003052208) has a worse problem, it deletes the bookmarks.html even if I do _not_ edit the personal toolbar. The fix for bug 205378 partially fixes this, now the bookmarks.html is only lost if the personal toolbar is edited. I guess the fix for bug 192014 is the real culprint. > I'm not able to reproduce it btw, but I'll try again with latest trunk and > 1.4 builds. Bug still present in 1.4rc. As stated in comment 0, this may be related to the location of my users folder. If anyone wants to try to move it see http://www.bombich.com/mactips/homedir.html for how.
I don't think that fix for bug 192014 caused this problem.
It seems like the patch for bug 200048 has partially fixed this, adding bookmarks to the personal toolbar works fine. However, if I delete an item on the personal toolbar bookmarks.html is still lost.
Looks like the patch for bug 206379 fixed the last remains of this bug, cannot reproduce this in 1.4rc2 (20030612)
