In the compose window, when you choose Message | Format | Plain Text, one would
expect the message being edited to be converted to plain text immediately (after
a warning message maybe), and editing mode switched to plain text.
That may be hard? Would the compose window automatically change to the plain
text window?

With the current architectureI would very hard to switch on the fly from HTML to
plain text. Worst, if later the user decide to come back to HTML, we would have
lost all the original HTML formatting. The purpose of this menu item is to
specify only the format while sending the message (feature not yet implemented.
Maybe we should fine a better label for it!
verified as won't fix. perhaps the wording can be better? cc: jglick
In Outlook Express, this feature works as originally reported. Changing from
Formatted text to Plain text displays a warning dialog (can be turned off) and
then switches on the fly to Plain text (formattng toolbar goes away). User can
switch back on the fly, but any formatting is NOT returned (formatting toolbar
returns).
We could change the wording, maybe something like, "Send the message as Plain
text", "Send the message as Formatting text". Kinda wordy for a menu though.
And users may still expect it to change on the fly.
I'm not sure what to do about this one. Maybe Simone can help us with better
wording, but I think the current implementation will cause some confusion.

How about:
Message | Send format
or Message | Format | Send as Plain Text/HTML/both
Btw: in plain text mode, the menu still shows all three options; but it really
doesn't make sense to send as HTML or Plain Text & HTML if the message is
composed as Plain Text.
And: Once the send format option is chosen, it should be displayed somewhere, if
only with a check mark in the menu, and a warning message should appear on send
if Plain Text is selected but the message was composed in HTML.
