Imported bookmarks are not ordered in any particular recognizable way. I would expect that they would be ordered the way I am familiar with them, or at least alphabetically, unfortunately I see no ordering scheme. Windows build 1999120815 on Win98se imported bookmarks from ie 5.5 platform preview...

"IE Favorites" are stored in the file system, so the natural order is the order that they are read off of disk. This is one of many reasons why we should have columns in the sidebar so that people can sort the data they get. Without that functionality, I'm marking this bad as WONTFIX. (cc'ing german)
after careful consideration, marking this bug VERIFIED
Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
Starting with IE4.x, bookmarks can be reordered by dragging+dropping them on the Favorites menu, just like reordering items on the Start Menu. The order of the items are stored under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder claudius: I'm reopening this bug with the information above. In the worst case this bug should be marked REMIND. WONTFIX is going to be hard to swallow for all the IE users out there looking to try Mozilla. Upping severity to normal, updating summary

Reporters of the original and duplicate bug reports: Are you still interested in having IE Favorites imported in the correct order? If so, please vote for this bug. If it gets a few more votes, I'll nominate it to be fixed for Mozilla 1.2. Thanks.
Yes they are interested ;) We have pretty many requests for this feature on Polish Mozilla support site - most of our users can't or do not know how to vote here though.

Yeah! that would really improve the usability of firebird. (Sorting the IE impoted bookmarks, now it's really hard to find what you ar looking for AND Bookmarks sort with folders first, then (normal) bookmarks)
