This will sounds like an odd and bad request... but here it is. Mozilla Mail
does not respect the system default browser being IE when clicking a hyperlink
in a mail message -- the hyperlink is opened in Mozilla Browser, despite the
fact that my system default browser is IE.
IE has no such problems opening Mozilla Mail when following a mailto: link from
a web page.
As you can see I am using Mozilla Browser to submit this bug and I do use
Mozilla Browser - however my default browser on my system is still IE (work
issues) and hyperlinks in mail messages should obey that.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set system default browser to IE.
2. Send yourself a mail message with a hyperlink
3. Read that message using Mozilla Mail and click the hyperlink.
4. The hyperlink is opened in Mozilla Browser.
Actual Results:
The link is opened in Mozilla Browser.
Expected Results:
It should have opened the link in my system default browser.
Other applications (such as Lotus Notes) allow an internal setting for handing
hyperlinks, such as "Use System Default", "Use Specified Browser: ___" where ___
is a field in which the system path to your chosen browser executable would be.
Obviously I can just cut and paste the URL from Mozilla Mail and enter it in my
IE browser... but I don't have to cut and paste the mailto information from IE
to use Mozilla Mail.
