User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Even with mildly long subjects, the Subject line in the message view pane or separate message view window gets truncated, esp if there's an attachment pane visible. In the message list window, a tooltip flashes briefly for long subjects. However, in the message view window, there's no tooltip --- either a tooltip should flash to show the complete subject, or the subject should wrap for display (as in netscape 4.8, for example). The problem is particularly annoying when viewing messages in separate windows (not in the 3-pane display), since it's hard to keep going back to the message list to find the message and figure out what the full subject is by selecting it and holding the mouse for a few seconds to get the tooltip. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Send yourself a message with a long enough subject that it truncates in the message display window --- if necessary send an attachment so that the attachment pane consumes some space. 2. 3. Couldn't find this bug searching on 'subject tip', but bug 201617 talks about tooltips for subject lines being too brief.

Attached image shows 2 images (top to bottom): (1) Mozilla mail reader showing the subject being truncated (not wrapped) and no way to get tooltip in a separate window (2) Netscape 4.8 showing the same message --- notice how the subject wraps nicely.
Wrapping of the subject line is probably the "right thing" in this case. The Summary is a bit misleading. I can CONFIRM that this bug is still present in 1.7beta even though the original report was July of last year.
