User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030718 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030718 i have two email messages in my IMAP inbox (imap.myrealbox.com) that have a blank subject and message body. The message date of both messages is 12/31/1969 7:00PM. i have tried to delete the messages by marking as deleted and then compressing the folder (messages remain in folder marked as deleted), also I have tried to copy to trash and delete immediately, but nothing happens. I didnt have a problem with mozilla 1.4. I cannot reproduce the problem, but i can say that the two messages appeared seperately. i'm not sure but i think they were created when I moved a message into another folder...but it doesnt happen every time...i've tried but cannot reproduce it. I've checked the folder using the web interface to my account but i cannot see the messages. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Probably a corrupted INBOX.MSF file. Look for this file in your profile, in the ImapMail folder in the folder for which you observe this problem. c:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAMEHERE\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\8RANDOMCHARACTERSHERE.slt Close all of Moz. Move the MSF file to some other location, e.g. your desktop. Restart mail and the file is rebuild and this time the strange message is gone. If that's the case, delete the old MSF file. In the mean time, I am NOT resolving this bug because i experienced the problem myself yesterday as well. I want to know if something's changed that CAUSES this bug and if a fix is needed.
Thanks, moving the inbox.msf file and then starting mozilla mail fixed the corrupted messages. If it happens again, I'll leave another comment. Jason
I have also seen this happen to a co-worker using Netscape 7.1
This seems to be the same problem as bug #199805
