i am able to use all functions of the browser EXCEPT anything that requires 
input from the keyboard. i can highlight text, click links, etc. I am 
completely unable to enter, remove, or modify text, such as web addresses, in 
any window, bar or dialog box. it is interesting to note that i also 
experience this problem with sun's netscape 7. Thus, this exists in BOTH 
Mozilla and Netscape.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open browser
2. try to type anything in location bar or make changes to prefs or anything 
that requires keyboard input
3. nothing happens

Actual Results:  
unable to enter or manipulate text. renders browser virtually unusable. pretty 
to look at, can follow links. cannot specify any address to navigate or make 
any changes or entries which require keyboard input

Expected Results:  
behave as expected; accept input from user

the behavior is the same. i searched for duplicates, but didnt find that one. 
the problem occurs for me no matter what. i've tried minimizing, maximizing, 
iconifying, switching focus, etc. all to no avail.

is there a workaround? i saw some mention of a parameter which could be 
tweaked, but no reference to the process.

the parameter from the bug is for "twm", dunno about your Window manager.
(And I'm a win32 user and i used *nix only a few hours)

I've never encountered bug 78928 with AfterStep, myself... but do the patches 
there fix things for you?
