We currently do not have any UI or mechanism for clearing session cookies, outside of restarting the browser application session. (This should work within quicklaunch, but is limited by non-browsing windows hanging open, like chatzilla or IM in N6/7). I've been saying for a long time that we need to make Offline-Online be more robust, taking many useful lessons from the way the MailNews features are coded around it. I've linked this bug up to several other related bugs. For example, there should be a preference for cookies that says: When going offline -> "delete session cookies" [yes] [no] [ask me] Also, if there were network profiles that were zone based, you could have a UI like this: <Work VPN> When leaving this network: [ ] release all session cookies for: (all|zone1|zone2) (where zone1 or zone2 would be defined as things like "all intranet servers" or "my favorite ecomerce sites".

did I mention I hate prompts? :D but really, this makes sense. Do we have some sort of public method to clear session cookies? If not, we should create one, and then we can use it in this situation, as well as with the "all browser windows closed" scenario. Speaking of which... this is random noise that I don't want to post in the flamebait bug, assuming we have cookies in mailnews disabled, I'm thinking we should clear the session cookies once all browser windows are closed. Thoughts?

for Seamonkey, same logic as noted in bug 86174, the changes necessary make this not worth fixing at this stage in the life cycle however, this isn't the end, moving to Firefox and morphing slightly (since if we're going to clear session cookies, we should clear all session info)

I don't think we want to offer UI for this use-case (add-ons certainly can).
