Mozilla doesn't use the start page as set in the MacOS X internet settings, even
when the setting is set and locked by a NetInfo domain.
In our computer lab we have Safari, MacIE, and Mozilla installed. Safari and
MacIE use the home page set in the internet settings on the MacOS X server, but
Mozilla seems to ignore it.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Mozilla on a fresh system
2. Launch browser
3. CMD-N to open a new browser window
Actual Results:
Mozilla's start page came up
Expected Results:
Displayed the start page as set in the MacOS X internet settings.
I'm aware that the start page comes up the first time you launch mozilla after
installing it, but it happens if you quit and launch it again.

You must set the homepage in Mozilla settings.

But that's just it, in MacOS X there's a system preference that browsers should at least default to -
the other mac browsers handle it just fine, Mozilla's the odd one out. And no, manually
configuring the home page on every single mac we have is not an acceptable workaround.

it really surprises me that this hasn't been filed before, but I couldn't bring
it up on my searches and there isn't a bug specifically on home page that's
already blocking bug 5721, so confirming this one.
But as Matti commented, for the forseeable future you will have to set the home
page explicitly in the Mozilla preferences.

As long as it's confirmed, I'm happy - it'll get sorted out eventually. Thanks.

This is a very valid bug. The primary complaint on OS X is that Gecko browsers
don't act and feel like OS X apps.
Also shocked this wasn't reported earlier.

I think this one is safe to WONTFIX now. Many of the old IC prefs are now Safari prefs, with the only UI to maintain them in Safari. Using those prefs are handled by the profile migrator, but it's unlikely that Mozilla would go peeking into what's become an app-specific pref.
