User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030830 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030830 (The platform is WinME--not technically Win98, but not technically "Other" either.) (I suspect that the information in the second paragraph is actually a second bug and not related to the main bug, but I present it here so that people familiar with the code can determine whether it is or isn't.) When importing mail messages from Eudora 5.1R ("Paid Mode"), the "Import" dialog window shows the percentage complete, seems to reach 100%, and then all the descriptive text disappears. The Next and Back buttons remain grayed out, and only the Cancel button is active. Even leaving the program open for several hours does not cause the box to update. (Screenshot available if needed.) Moving the "Import" window to the side, I can see that a "Eudora Mail" folder was created under "Local Folders" (i.e., \Local Folders\Eudora Mail). If I Cancel the import and then select the Eudora Mail folder, no messages are listed. If I click on the "+" to expand the folder, no additional folders are listed (although I have dozens of folders in Eudora.) If I close and re-open the Mail/News window (but leave the Web Browser portion open), then the Eudora Mail folder appears without the "+" icon next to it, but still doesn't appear to have any contents. After completely closing Mozilla and re-starting, the Eudora Mail folder isn't even listed. I have encountered this bug on multiple builds since at least Mar 14. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch the Mail/News portion of Mozilla (I do it by launching Mozilla and then clicking the envelope icon in the lower-left corner) 2. Select the Tools drop-down, and then Import 3. Select "[Import] Mail" and click Next 4. Select Eudora and click next Actual Results: The dialog box indicates that it is importing mail and a progression-bar grows across the width of the window. When it reaches what seems to be 100% (no numeric values are given), all the text from the "body" of the window is cleared, but nothing else happens. Expected Results: At the very least, some text needs to let the user know that it's done and the Next button needs to re-enable itself. After that, the Eudora mail messages should be available for access. I am using the Default theme and Build 2003083004.
*** Bug 229236 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Changed OS to "All" because it occurs in both WinME and Win2000. Marked Bug 229236 a duplicate because...well, because it is. (This one didn't show up on any of my pre-submission search queries, nor could I find any submissions with my e-mail attached. My apologies.) This bug exists in every version I've tried since Mar 14 (2003).
OS: other → All
Bug also manifests in "Mozilla Thunderbird 0.4 (20031205)". My understanding is that Thunderbird is derived from the "Mozilla suite" code, so I'm leaving it here until someone tells me otherwise.
Summary: Import Mail (messages) from Eudora seems to complete, but "Import" dialog box doesn't update → Import Mail (messages) from Eudora seems to complete, but "Import" dialog box doesn't update (in Mozilla or Thunderbird)
No error appears when I try to import my entire "mailbox hierarchy", but if I try to import a subset of my mail then I get errors like the following: Error importing mailbox Jokes/Forwards/Etc., unable to create destination mailbox The '/' (forward slash) appears to be the culprit. In those cases, the internal Eudora Folder name is different than the name of the file written to disk. Two oddities about the import, though: 1) A Eudora folder with a ':' (colon) in it does not generate any errors, and 2) A Eudora folder with a '/' (forward slash) only generates an error only if it contains messages; if it is a "container" folder that contains other mailboxes, no error is generated. Example: \ Eudora Mail + Alpha/beta <- Generates an error + Charlie/delta <- No error, but doesn't contain any messages + Epsilon + Funkygruven *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 120559 ***
