I just tried FireBird today and the first thing that shocked me is that when you
try to 'select' an already selected text in the URL bar or the 'Add to bookmark'
dialog, firebird goes into drag&drop mode instead of 'reselect' mode.
To reselect I have to click first (click down then up) and then select.
That's two clicks more than under IE and it's really annoying as, of course, the
first thing i do when opening a browser is to reselect the URL just after the
"www." to enter the URL that interests me.
Also really annoying in the "Add to bookmark" dialog: I usually shorten the name
of the bookmark by selecting over the old selection...
I can see why the drag&drop mode is useful for the address bar (to do a quick
bookmark in the "bookmark toolbar"), but in the "Add to bookmark" dialog????
I know it doesn't sound like a real deal but when you are accustomated to a
behavior, it's hard and painful to change... I know I will keep IE for now...
Acceptable solution:
An "IE style" option in the preferences that would copy the behavior of IE, or
remove the "selected on getfocus" behavior of the input field (but that would
also break an expected behavior)
If solution 1: maybe allowing drag and drop on at least the little 'blank page'
icon that is on the left of the URL...
Hope somebody has time to do this... I really like firebird but this thing keeps
bothering me and hurts my surf speed...
Thanks!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Goto any page
2. Click on the url in the address bar (=> gets selected)
3. Try to select a part of the url without first clicking to deselect
4. Doesn't work
5. Wonder about how many clicks it takes to get what you want done
6. Wonder what would be the use of drag&drop in the "Add to bookmark" dialog
Actual Results:
Drag&drop (See 'details', sorry i wrote everything in that box)
Expected Results:
Select text (Like IE)
